Weight Management & Body Image Therapy
Reclaiming Your Relationship With Food & Your Body
My ApproachI offer online counselling and clinical hypnotherapy for weight management and body image concerns across British Columbia. Together, we can explore the thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and habits that shape your relationship with food and your body.
Do you feel like your relationship with food is either “in control” or completely out of control?
Do you find thoughts about your body stop you from being in the present moment and enjoying life?
Do you feel uncomfortable, critical, or disconnected from your body even when your weight changes?
Could your habits be influenced by beliefs about yourself that you've carried for years?
What would change if thoughts about the mirror no longer occupied so much mental space?
Weight management isn't simply about the number on the scale or clothes in your closet. It can involve the beliefs you hold about your body, your relationship with food, emotional eating, restriction, cravings, self-esteem, motivation, exercise, and the habits that have become automatic over time.
Hypnotherapy can support healthier, more sustainable relationships with food, movement, and self-care by working with the thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and habits that influence behaviour (Roslim et al., 2023).
Treatment planning is highly individualized. Together, we identify your unique challenges—whether they involve overeating, cravings, emotional or disordered eating patterns, self-esteem, body image, exercise, limiting beliefs, or past experiences—and create a plan tailored to you.
For many people, this work can be a stepping stone toward moving beyond patterns that have kept them stuck—and reconnecting with a sense of freedom, possibility, and trust in themselves.
The goal is to help you feel empowered to make the choices you’ve wanted to make all along—developing greater freedom, confidence, and trust in your ability to care for yourself and your body. And perhaps most importantly, there can be hope that your relationship with food and your body does not have to stay stagnant. Change can begin with small shifts in how you understand yourself, listen to your body, and imagine what might be possible.
Many people do well with approximately 4–6 sessions, generally spaced 1–2 weeks apart, although the number of sessions will depend on your goals, history, and individual needs. You’ll monitor your progress, which may include changes in weight (whether your goal is to gain, lose, or maintain weight), as well as your mental health, while I’ll create personalized take-home hypnosis tapes designed to reinforce the work we do together between sessions.
Where there are concerns about an unaddressed eating disorder or significant medical complications related to eating or weight, appropriate medical or specialized eating-disorder care may also be recommended.
Stop thinking about losing weight, and start thinking about winning back your love for your body.
