What Counselling at Wild Iris Is Like | Online Counselling in BC
The intention of every session is always the same: to help you develop greater safety, connection, freedom, and trust in yourself—mind, body, and spirit.
/ˈīrəs/
Like the rainbow that gives Wild Iris her name, healing can connect places, parts and people that once seemed separate. From your nervous system to your mind, body and spirit—from my couch to yours.
When I step into a counselling room I always aim to bring compassion, collaboration, and curiosity to the moment.
I see you as a whole person—not a collection of symptoms. Together, we explore what your mind, body, and emotions may be communicating and develop a deeper understanding of what you need to feel well, connected, and empowered.
A foundational part of my work is creating a sense of safety and trust. Before meaningful change can take place, I believe it is important to experience safety not only within the therapeutic relationship, but within your own body—the most fundamental home you have. Together, we explore ways to help your nervous system recognize safety, build greater trust in your body, and develop the resources you need to move through life with greater ease and confidence.
You can expect a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can explore what is happening beneath the surface, develop practical skills, and discover what helps you feel more grounded and connected. I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, including EMDR, hypnotherapy, mind-body techniques, and relationship-based work, adapting our work to what feels most natural and useful for you.
My aim is to walk alongside you as you reconnect with your strengths, deepen your self-understanding, and rediscover the parts of yourself that may have become quiet, hidden, or lost along the way. Together, we can make space for greater freedom, possibility, and a life that feels more fully your own.
This is what I mean by reclaiming your wild—not becoming someone new, but coming home to more of who you already are.

Hypnotherapy is a somatic and experiential approach that uses focused attention and a relaxed, receptive state to help create meaningful change in thoughts, emotions, habits, and nervous-system responses. It works with the brain’s natural capacity for learning and change, helping you develop new patterns that support greater wellbeing, freedom, and connection.
Hypnotherapy can help you
Let go of past memories
Improve relationship communication
Shift unhelpful patterns and get you ‘unstuck’
It can help you become embodied and rewire your brain on a neurological level
It can help you explore who you truly are
-
EMDR is a somatic, experiential therapy that helps the brain and nervous system reprocess experiences that may feel emotionally or physically “stuck.” It can help reduce the intensity of difficult memories, triggers, and deeply held beliefs, allowing you to feel more present, grounded, and free to move forward.
It can help free you from past memories
It can improve relationship communication
It can shift automatic reactions
It can help you become embodied
It can increase motivation and help you move towards your preferred future
-
EFT Tapping is a mind-body technique that pulls together mindfulness, acupressure, CBT, and energy psychology. It combines focused attention on a specific concern with gentle tapping on points on the body.
It can help
Calm the nervous system
Manage panic attacks and anxiety
Reduce emotional intensity
Shift patterns of stress, fear, and limiting beliefs
Reduce pain
Help you learn to better communicate with your body
-
Ego State / Parts Therapy is a compassionate approach that explores the different “parts” of ourselves that hold unique emotions, beliefs, needs, and protective roles. By understanding and connecting with these parts, we can resolve inner conflicts, create greater harmony, and help you feel more integrated, grounded, and at home within yourself.
In my practice, Parts Therapy is often used in EMDR and Hypnotherapy.
It can help
Change habits
Develop deep self-compassion
Heal childhood wounds
Create a free future

Rooted in Buddhist traditions, mindfulness helps you develop greater awareness and appreciation of the present moment, while becoming more connected and embodied in your everyday experience. With practice, it can cultivate greater calm, presence, and happiness.
Guided imagery uses the imagination to create a sense of safety, grounding, and possibility, while offering a way to explore your inner world and make meaningful change. It can also be a simple and restorative way to pause, recentre, and reconnect with yourself.
In my practice I use both practices in

Somatic therapy brings awareness to the body and nervous system as an integral part of the therapeutic process. Through bottom-up practices, we learn to listen to sensations, emotions, shifts in heart rate, and other signals from the body, helping us understand what your nervous system may be communicating and supporting the release and processing of emotions, memories, and trauma.
A somatic approach is woven into all of my work. Together, we work toward making your body feel like a safe place to live in and come home to, while developing greater trust, compassion, and appreciation for the ways your body communicates with you.
-
Solution-Focused Therapy focuses less on what is wrong and more on where you want to go and what is already working. Together, we identify your strengths, resources, and desired future, then build practical steps toward meaningful change—helping you recognize possibilities, progress, and the capacity you already have within you.
SFT focuses on goals, the future, and avoiding the trap of rumination that can occur in therapy when we focus too much on the ‘story’ of our pain.

There are many ways therapists work with pain, from asking clients to ignore it, live with it, befriend it, or even to try to tell themselves that it is just something to learn to live alongside.
In my work we re-wire the brain, nervous system, and how you process sensation - while learning to understand what messages are important from the feelings, and what is redundant or useless.
Pain always has a message, but once that message is received, we can learn to thank the messenger and move on to freedom and wisdom.
I am trained in several pain relief techniques rooted in neurology, psychology, and medicine.

How We Work Together
My Process
Meet & Greet
Here’s where we have a quick chat to see if we are a good fit. Want to see if I’m your cup of tea? Head over to my bio.
Intake Session
This is the part where we have our first session, explore your history, make a treatment plan, and dip our toes into the waves of change.
The Work
Here’s where we dig deep, build safety over time, and experience change in each session. Choose your favourite modality that suits you best, or mix and match depending on the needs of the day.
Reevaluation
This is the part where we part ways if you feel you’ve met your goals. We will carefully review our work together and decide if there is more to uncover before saying goodbye. My best hope for my clients is to send them off into the world feeling free, hopeful, and full of internal wisdom. My digital door will always be open to you for whatever trials may come your way, however, I’m not doing my job right if you can’t spread your wings.
I work remotely with individuals over the age of 16. If you're ready to embark on a journey of healing and self-discovery, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you.Ready to prioritize yourself? Book your first session today.
